8 Fun Ways To Spend Time With Your Children
Children take priority if you have them. No matter what their age, it is important that you let your children know how much you love and care about them. Sometimes that means being a provider when they need something, a shoulder to cry on and a wise sounding board. While fulfilling all these duties, remember that spending quality time with your children are just as important.
Things may not have gone back to normal, but this time is great for quality time with family including your children. Besides watching a movie or TV together, here are some fun and creative ways to spend time with your kid.
Bath Time
Wrangling your kids for bath time can be really stressful, but it does not have to be. Use that time as a way to spend time with your children. You can spend quality time with your child while also getting something done. Mom would be happy about that. Sometimes you can connect with your child on a vulnerable level when you do this.
Partake In Playtime
The next time your child asks you to play with them, oblige them and join in on the fun. Get off the couch, turn off your screens and get on the floor and play. Engage with your child. Play along with their make-believe stories and scenarios. Talk to their imaginary friends. Laugh at your kid’s joke. Enter into your child’s world unabashedly. Play with their toys. Let your child know you care and are involved in their life.
Start A DIY Project
Grab your tool kit and research some fun DIY projects that are safe for the children to do. If you do not have a tool kit, click here for details. Create a birdhouse or a bird feeder. This is a simple and easy way to build something. The possibilities are endless. Another great option is to build a crayon holder, an airplane or a shelf that can be put into their room. Make it an art project by incorporating paint.
Eat Together
You will be surprised when you find out how doing something as simple as sitting down together to eat will improve your relationship with your children. This is an excellent way to spend quality time with them. Cook their favorite meal and sit down at the dinner table. Engage in conversation, finding out about how each other’s day went and what your children are struggling with that day. It is an excellent way to make many memories that your children will think back on for years to come.
Read Them A Book
Reading is not always something done in solitude. Depending on how young your child is, they would welcome you into their room to hear a story before bedtime. This is a great way to instill a love of books and reading in your child. Reading a book together may not be the most exciting thing to do together, but it is a benefit. Your child will develop a love for reading and you get to tuck your child in at night before bed.
Head Outside
Play outside with your children. You may not be able to take your children to the amusement park, but you can take them to a local park or even out in the backyard. Enjoy the outdoors with your children. Play along with them. Play tag, run through the grass, search for sticks and other things to add into an “organic” soup, chase squirrels. Let your inner kid out. Loosen up and have some fun. This is a really fun way to spend time with your child.
Pray Or Meditate
Doing this with your child is not only a great way to spend quality time together, but it will also give you a chance to lead by example. If you are in a religious household, pray together. If you are not religious, meditate and practice mindfulness with your child.
Take Your Child With You
Running errands can be incredibly boring for kids, but give your child an incentive for tagging along with you. Promise a couple of scoops of ice cream, or a meal from their favorite restaurants. It is an easy and simple way to spend time with your child. Instead of hiring a babysitter, take your child with you when you run errands.
Do Something Spontaneous
Kids love spontaneity and surprises. Use this to your advantage and sneak in some quality time with your children at the same time. After sitting down and having dinner together, take a trip to your local ice cream parlor. Though you can invite the whole family, the moment can be really special if you spend one-on-one time with your kid.
