Five Ways To Improve Your Mental Health in 2021

It has been a tough twelve months and this has left many of us feeling a bit out of sorts. If this is you and you are feeling unmotivated or down then it might be time you took steps to help improve your mental health. Even if you are feeling okay, these tips can help you to improve your outlook on life in general and become a happier and more productive person. No matter the cause, we all face stress from time to time. Whether it is due to work and you have a high-intensity job such as in a microscopy lab or a hospital, or you are struggling with the pandemic that is currently happening, times will be tough every now and then. Here are some top ways for your reset, recharge and improve your mental health in 2021…

Start your day the right way

Your mindset can be affected a lot by the way that you start your day, therefore it is important to begin it the right way. Try and wake up through natural light rather than a loud alarm – the Lumie light is good for this! Take a shower and eat something healthy and nutritious for breakfast, followed by a large glass of water. Write a to-do list of all the things you want to achieve in the hours that follow and you will find you feel organized and ready to face whatever the day throws at you.

Implement exercise into your daily routine

Exercise is good for the mind and soul and is important to try and incorporate into your daily routine. It doesn’t matter if you do something such as a long run, a cycle, a gentle walk or some yoga. The most important thing is to get moving and get your heart pumping. You will feel much better once you have done this.

Keep in touch with friends and family

Isolation is no good for anyone and therefore it is extremely beneficial to keep in touch with your loved ones when you can. Try to schedule in regular facetime calls or phone calls so you can have a good catch up. You could organise an online quiz or games night, or just have a chat to see what you have been up to. You will be surprised at just how much it helps to be able to offload to someone you love. It can be easy to let your relationships slide when you are busy, but try and make an effort to connect when possible.

Take some “me time”

Me time is so important. This is where you can just put down your work or stresses and have time to do what you enjoy. Take a bubble bath, read a book or watch your favourite movie on the tv. Whatever it is, it will help you switch off and wind down.
