Major Signs that it’s Time to Make a Career Change
Finding a fulfilling job can be a long and slow journey. Not many people enter the workforce knowing what they want to do. By the age of 50, the average person has had 12 different jobs in total. If you want to find the right fit for you or if you want to be happier in your current job then it may be that you need to change careers completely.
You are Complacent
As each day goes by, you may feel as though you are somewhat disconnected from the original reasons why you entered the field. Mentally, you might feel as though you have checked out and that you are underperforming. If this is the case then you may find that you just can’t handle the fake enthusiasm anymore. You may also find that you can’t even feel passionate about the company mission. If this is the case then you have to make a change as soon as possible. If you don’t then you may find that you end up missing out more than you realise.
You’re Having no Impact
Your job duties might be the same, day in and day out. If this is the case then you may feel somewhat disconnected. You may find that your deadlines are slipping but at the same time, you cannot muster the energy to fake your enthusiasm anymore. This isn’t normal and you need to take the time to focus on yourself where possible. If you can’t remember the last time you felt energised by a new idea or if you can’t remember the last time you felt passionate about something then now is the time for you to make a major change about that. You Dread Work
Everyone has days where they hit the snooze button more than they should, or when they need to get a bit of an extra boost to go to work. With that being said, if the idea of work just doesn’t excite you then you need to make a change. You may live for the weekend and dread Monday morning, and this is fine, With that being said, if your feelings are intense or if you feel as though you just aren’t happy then this is a major sign that something has to be done about it.
Your Dissatisfied
The pay may be good but at the end of the day, mindless work just isn’t going to give you a good level of job satisfaction. If you reach Tuesday and just can’t wait for the week to be over then this is a major sign that you need to make a change. If you don’t then you may find that your feelings worsen with time and this can lead to you experiencing anxiety and even depression. If you want to help yourself to make a change then you need to start focusing on the things that are going to make you feel better.
